5 New Experiences I Had on Vacation

If it's one thing I've learned about leading a busy, on-the-go life, is that it's absolutely necessary to take time off for yourself. I've seen so many people who burn themselves out just because they refuse to take a break! Well, if you know me, I work hard but ALWAYS look forward to vacations. Recently, I took a cruise to Bermuda and had such a great time. It allowed me to focus on myself, clear my head, get re-motivated in my work/life, and try some new, out-of-the-box experiences that I'll never forget! It's not too late for you to do the same, either. So here's my attempt at encouraging you to take some time away and focus on you because you never know what kind of wonderful things you'll get out of it. Here are 5 BRAND NEW, ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME experiences that I had on my vacation:

I Danced with Rockettes:
We sailed on the Norwegian Breakaway, a ship where The Rockettes serve as its Godmothers'. Because of this, we were so lucky to have TWO professional Rockettes sailing with us! So when I saw they were conducting an hour-long "Dance with the Rockettes" class, I had to attend. I had such a fun time hearing "behind the scenes" information about their performances (did you know that they do over 100 kicks per show?!) and dancing with other ladies on the ship. The two Rockettes could not have been nicer and seeing them perform at Radio City Music Hall has definitely jumped to the top of my Bucket List.

Partied on a Pirate Ship:
Unfortunately, I snapped zero pictures of the ship. These pictures are originally from www.bermudasun.bm
Calico Jack's is a floating pirate ship with a full sound system and an awesome bar. One of the MAJOR perks about Bermuda is how safe it is and how kind the locals are. So we were able to get off the ship late-night for some fun on this totally unique bar. It's an actual ship that's in the water so people were jumping overboard and the boat was rockin (in the best way possible!) We danced with our new friends, met a bunch of crew members, and spoke to some locals who have spent their whole life in Bermuda. It was by far the best night of our entire vacation and an experience I'll never forget! Not to mention, we left at about 4am and the party was still in full swing!

I Explored Underground Caverns:
Crystal Caves and Fantasy Caves are two underground caverns in Bermuda. We walked almost 100 steps down (and back up again!) and got to experience the amazing formations and rock creations. Each cave also had crystal clear water where you could see 50 feet down to the bottom! The caves were beautiful and the experience was definitely surreal. I was glad to experience something so unique that was native to the island.

I Drank Vodka in a Bar Made of Ice:
My favorite bar on the ship (even though I only was in it for about 30 minutes) was the Svedka Ice Bar. Before entering, we had to put on warm, hooded garments and gloves because the inside is kept at a chilly 17 degrees Fahrenheit! This is apparently the perfect temperature for vodka. The inside was amazing, complete with ice walls, an ice throne, and ice sculptures.  We even drank yummy vodka cocktails out of glasses MADE OF ICE! The experience, although short, was so fun and being with some friends we had met on the cruise made it all the better.

I Conquered The Largest Ropes Course at Sea:
The ship's ropes course looked amazing from afar. Located on the very top deck of the boat and raised up 20 more feet from the floor, it looked epic. I had never done a ropes course before so I was so excited to try it! BIG MISTAKE! After being harnessed in and walking up the stairs, I had a whole new perspective. I was literally standing on a platform that was on the edge of the boat, about 100 feet above the raging Atlantic Ocean. Needless to say, I totally froze! Being on the verge of tears, I told my boyfriend that I was going to get off at the beginning. But then I closed my eyes, realized that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, gathered my courage and decided to complete the course. Even though I was shaking the whole time, I made it to the end where there was a zip line waiting for me. I was so nervous that I knew if I hesitated, I would never do it. So when the crew member told me to run and jump, I did just that... screaming the whole way! It was quite an adventure and I needed a strawberry daiquiri immediately after.

A special thanks to everyone who made my ENTIRE vacation memorable including, of course, my wonderful boyfriend, James; the adventurous and hilarious Ed and Kalie; the amazingly sweet and friendly Erin and Rob; and our favorite crew members, Paquito, Ronaldo and Candy!

How do you plan on taking time for yourself?!
